Pastor Marvis L. McGowan serves as Senior Pastor of Shining Light Bible Mission Church. He is a devoted husband and father of four; who recognized the call of God upon his life at an early age. He is a gifted and passionate speaker when communicating the word of God. He has numerous achievements, but cherishes the title as child of God above them all. He is known to his family for being loving, caring, responsible and kind. He is known by his congregation as a prayer warrior, an administrator, a relevant teacher and a powerful preacher. He is known in the community as an activist, a trendsetter, an innovator and a voice for those in need. His personal life mission is to remain authentic in his pursuit, passion and portrayal of God. Pastor Alva is a proven leader with a fire in her spirit for God and for people. She’s been blessed to preach, teach and facilitate workshops at churches, community organizations, and schools throughout the United States as well as internationally.
As pastor leaders of the marriage ministry, she and her husband actively pursue resources to support and strengthen marriages. They are committed to building up marriage on a biblical foundation enabling couples to lead themselves toward a thriving, successful marriage. FULL BIO

Phyllis McGowan
Overseer
Overseer Phyllis McGowan was one of the Genesis members of Shining Light Bible Mission Church. In 1986, she was licensed to preach the gospel and ordained by the late Rev. Cellenia Wood in 1989. She was ordained as an Overseer at Shining Light on November 30, 2005 by Pastor Marvis L. McGowan. She believes that the only way to please God is to obey His word and that holiness is the way. Her greatest joy is praising God and encouraging others to praise Him and believe His word. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 103. Overseer McGowan is the founder of MOPP Ministry.
Margaret Moser
Overseer
Overseer Margaret Moser has been a part of Shining Light since 1984. She accepted God’s call to preach the gospel and worked closely under the leadership of Pastor Cellenia Wood for many years. Overseer has continued working and serving tirelessly under the leadership of Pastor Marvis and Co-Pastor Alva McGowan. After 30 plus years of service, she retired from the Ohio State University Hospital. She now spends her time serving her church, her pastors, and the community.

Pastor Regina Prentiss is an anointed and powerful Evangelist and business leader who founded Mrs. P's Place, a certified Childcare Center.with a heart to serve the Pastor and the people. Her Christ exalting, Bible based messages are planned and preached to help prepare and propel God’s people for “Great Commission living.” Acts1:8

Melvin Tate
Deacon/Finance Team/Safety & Security
Deacon Melvin Tate works tirelessly in his role as a deacon at Shining Light - assisting with finances and ensuring the upkeep of the building and sanctuary. He serves a dual role to provide direction to leadership on various security and safety plans, issues, and incidents to provide a secure church environment.
